Prime Minister Garry Conille left the country on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The head of government will first visit the United Arab Emirates and then Kenya. Security will be at the forefront of these visits, and he is accompanied by Foreign Minister Dominique Dupuy, members of the Haitian Armed Forces, and the Haitian National Police.
Before boarding the plane, Conille held a press briefing at the diplomatic lounge of Toussaint Louverture Airport to explain the purpose of his trip. “I am first heading to the United Arab Emirates and then to Nairobi, Kenya. This trip is part of our efforts to restore security. We have recognized the need for two key elements to win this battle: personnel and equipment. We need more staff, more police officers, and more military personnel. I am going to Kenya at the invitation of President Ruto to expedite the deployment process of Kenyan forces to support our security forces. Our agents are operating with limited resources. We are also visiting the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of the Vice President. We will discuss establishing a regular flow of technology, technical assistance, and equipment to strengthen our police and military. Our security forces need drones, armored vehicles, and sophisticated firearms to succeed in this battle. We will engage with Emirati authorities to secure this regular flow to expedite the process of restoring security,” Garry Conille explained.
