Taiwan will increase the budget allocated for scholarships to students from countries with which it maintains diplomatic relations, including Haiti. The announcement was made by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs François Chihchung Wu on October 29. He made the statement during a reception held for a group of journalists from around the world at Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Taipei.

"We are increasing our capacity to provide scholarships to all the countries that have friendly relations with us. We are increasing our budget to offer more scholarships to Haiti. We will also provide more to new friends, such as Ivory Coast, and to European countries like Latvia. We are working hard to offer more to our friends," assured François Chihchung Wu.
