The new Minister of Tourism, John Herrick Dessources, paid a courtesy visit to the Le Nouvelliste newspaper on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. During his visit, the minister met with the newspaper’s director, Max Chauvet, and the editor-in-chief, Frantz Duval. He praised the newspaper’s work, calling it an important institution that has spent over a century informing the Haitian public.

In an interview following his visit, Dessources outlined his vision for preserving and revitalizing the tourism sector once conditions allow. “I am awaiting directives from Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and the roadmap. However, we already have a vision and an action plan developed by my predecessor, of whom I was the chief of staff. This plan views tourism as an effective tool for economic and social development. Given the current situation, we will focus on cultural tourism as our primary offering, with eco-tourism as a complementary product,” he explained.
