The President of the Transitional Presidential Council, Leslie Voltaire, left the country on Thursday, January 23, heading to Europe. In an interview with Le Nouvelliste, Voltaire revealed that he will visit the Vatican and France.
At the Holy See, Leslie Voltaire will be received by Pope Francis this Saturday, January 25. “In Haiti, as in Latin America, the Catholic Church is very influential. It is involved in education, healthcare, and humanitarian aid through its charitable organizations. Given the crisis we are facing in Haiti, I will ask Pope Francis for increased Church investment in these areas, particularly in humanitarian assistance. Over 6 million Haitians are experiencing food insecurity. We will explore how Caritas can help,” the CPT president explained to Le Nouvelliste.
