The commune of Kenscoff was targeted by an attack from armed criminals on Monday, January 27, 2025. Bursts of automatic gunfire caught off guard schoolchildren, farmers, vegetable vendors, and others who had ventured out early in the morning. Armed criminals, led by an individual known as "Didi," attempted to seize several neighborhoods in this usually peaceful mountain commune. A law enforcement intervention managed to repel the attack, and several criminals were killed, according to PNH spokesperson Michel Ange Louis Jeune.

Several houses were set on fire at the start of the assault by the criminals. The mayor of the commune, Massillon Jean, who spoke with Le Nouvelliste early in the morning, confirmed the events without providing many details, while urgently calling for police intervention.
