The president of the municipal commission of Kenscoff issued a statement of condolences to the families of the victims following the armed gang attack on the commune on February 16. In this note, Mayor Masillon Jean revealed that eight people, including members of the FADH, the BSAP, and civilians, were killed by criminals that day. "Two agents of the Protected Areas Security Brigade (BSAP) sacrificed their lives and their families' futures for the security of the community. Among these victims was Carlo Jean, a native son of Kenscoff. During the same attack, the criminals killed a soldier of the FADH and injured two others. They also executed the wife and 19-year-old son of a blind man whose home is located near the Téléco building. As they were being repelled and pursued by law enforcement, the criminals executed three farmers while retreating to Godet," detailed the Kenscoff mayor’s condolence statement.
The municipal office also praised the courage of local residents who are fighting alongside law enforcement and local authorities to protect the commune. "The municipality extends its sympathies and expresses its deep regrets to the families, relatives, friends, and the entire community in these tragic circumstances. The municipal office calls on the population to remain calm and show solidarity so that peace and order can be restored," the statement concluded.
