According to Lionel Lazarre, the police department in the Centre region has strengthened security measures within the department, particularly at the entrance to the city of Mirebalais and along the borderlines. As part of this security plan, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, law enforcement officers seized 10,488 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 29 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition, and three high-caliber firearms, including a Magpul ILX 50 rifle and two 12-gauge shotguns. As part of this operation, which was carried out in collaboration with the local population, the PNH also confiscated a Magpul stock, a Magpul rifle magazine, a Kalashnikov rifle magazine, a rifle wrench, and a gray Nissan minibus. The individuals transporting these weapons and ammunition were lynched by the population despite efforts by the PNH to prevent it, Lionel Lazarre lamented.
Still in the Centre department, law enforcement officers arrested Pierre Krulex, alias Ti Papi, in a nightclub in Mirebalais on March 7, 2025. He was apprehended for criminal association, illegal possession of firearms, and illicit arms and ammunition trafficking. According to Lionel Lazarre, Pierre Krulex has ties to the 400 Mawozo gang and the Canaan gang. During his arrest, the PNH found in his vehicle four Glock 17 pistols (9mm caliber), 48 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an M4 rifle, 96 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and a sum of 300,000 gourdes. During his interrogation, Ti Papi admitted to being one of the right-hand men of a government commissioner in the Central Plateau named Odania Blanc. He revealed that he ensures the commissioner’s protection by supplying him with firearms for security purposes.
