A high level of tension reigns in downtown Port-au-Prince on the evening of Friday, March 14, 2025. Witnesses from Avenue Christophe, Rue Cameau, Rue Lafleur Ducheine, and Ruelle Marcellin, among other areas, report fires in several buildings housing schools, businesses, and more. These fires are criminal acts carried out by armed gangs from the criminal coalition "Viv Ansanm." Fearing they might be shot, residents are refraining from checking which buildings have gone up in flames. However, columns of fire and smoke are visible throughout the downtown area.

Earlier in the day, looting was reported along Avenue Christophe and Rue Capois. Thousands of families were seen fleeing the area, fearing for their lives. According to a widely circulated video, snipers have taken position in high-rise buildings and are shooting at anything that moves, further increasing the danger in these zones—now under siege by armed killers.
