The numerous armored vehicles and firearms of all calibers made available to Haiti’s public security forces have never caused as much panic and fear among criminal groups as the kamikaze drones used in recent days. Human rights organizations such as FJKL, RNDDH, POHDH, CARDH, and Collectif Défenseurs Plus are unanimous in their stance on the use of drones against armed groups.

This new strategy by public security forces in the fight against criminal groups has been well received both by the public and by human rights organizations. The Haitian National Police continues to use kamikaze drones against armed gangs that are sowing terror in Port-au-Prince and surrounding communes. The explosions from these drones, which fall in gang-controlled neighborhoods, can be heard almost daily in Port-au-Prince.
