Armed attacks against the city of Mirebalais are continuing this Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the Departmental Delegate of the Centre, Frédérique Occéan, told Le Nouvelliste around noon. “Yes, the bandits are continuing to attack us. They’ve received reinforcements. They’ve taken control of the Lycée de Mirebalais where they’ve settled. The city is in a state of panic,” said Me Occéan to Le Nouvelliste. According to him, there could be civilian casualties, as the criminals opened fire in the direction of residents’ homes.

Furthermore, the Departmental Delegate criticized the indifference of the highest levels of government, which have not made any contact with local officials. “No one responded to our requests. It’s as if the authorities in Port-au-Prince are showing indifference toward Mirebalais. We don’t even have the means to support the police officers sent as reinforcements to the city,” he lamented.
