A new contingent of Jamaican officers arrived in Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, to join the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS). This information was confirmed to Le Nouvelliste by the mission’s spokesperson, Kenyan Commissioner Jack Ombaka. “Yes, more Jamaicans arrived today. We cannot reveal the number at this time,” the spokesperson told the newspaper. A witness at the airport on Tuesday told the newspaper that they were around twenty.
These Jamaican officers are arriving in Port-au-Prince at a time when acts of violence by criminal groups are multiplying—and amid the threat of a takeover by these armed groups.
