Since March 25, when three armored vehicles of the PNH and the MMAS were set on fire in Artibonite and a Kenyan officer was killed, there has been little news about the Kenya-led Multinational Mission. As the cities of Mirebalais and Saut-d’Eau fall into the hands of criminals, the Kenyans are nowhere to be found. Criminal groups are expanding their grip on Kenscoff, and the Kenyan presence is not enough to push them back. The large MRAP Promax armored vehicles that once roamed the streets of Solino, Nazon, Champ de Mars, or downtown Port-au-Prince have vanished from sight.
Where have our friends from East Africa, deployed to Haiti to help us restore security, gone? Le Nouvelliste asked this question to the mission's spokesperson, Commissioner Jack Ombaka. He explained that the multinational force is currently using a new strategy.
