The University Hospital of Mirebalais is closing its doors until further notice. An internal memo from the executive management of the organization Zanmi Lasante, which operates the hospital, was sent to the staff to that effect. In the correspondence, the organization cites the security situation currently affecting the city of Mirebalais as justification for the decision.
Le Nouvelliste contacted Dr. Ralph Ternier, Director of Clinical Programs at Zanmi Lasante, who confirmed the news, while clarifying that the memo remains internal and has an administrative purpose. “The communication is simply addressed to our staff and is related to the insecurity that the city has been facing for weeks. As an institution, we needed to provide guidance to our employees who are wondering whether they should come to work or not. It's a standard protocol for our staff,” said Ralph Ternier.
