The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will be on an official visit to Port-au-Prince this Friday, July 18. He will be accompanied by his Minister of Defense, Pedro Arnulfo Sanchez Suarez. This will be the former mayor of Bogotá’s second visit to Haiti, after a first visit to Jacmel on January 23 of this year.

Presidential advisor Leslie Voltaire, who welcomed Petro in January when he was heading the CPT, provided more details about the visit scheduled for Friday, July 18. “He will arrive in the morning. He will have a working session with us. After that, he will proceed with the opening of the Colombian Embassy in Haiti. Then we will organize a reception in his honor,” said Leslie Voltaire to Le Nouvelliste on Thursday evening, viewing Gustavo Petro’s visit to Port-au-Prince positively.
