The United States will crack down on individuals with ties to the Viv Ansanm organization, which was designated a “foreign terrorist organization” on May 2, 2025. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the expulsion of those concerned on Monday, July 21.
“The Department of State has determined that certain individuals holding lawful permanent resident status in the United States have supported and collaborated with Haitian gang leaders linked to Viv Ansanm, a Haitian Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). Viv Ansanm is a driver of violence and criminality in Haiti, contributing to the island’s instability. The United States will not allow individuals to benefit from legal status in our country while facilitating the actions of violent organizations or supporting criminal terrorist groups,” declared the head of U.S. diplomacy, indicating that the activities of these individuals “could have serious negative consequences for U.S. foreign policy.”
