The President of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT), Fritz Alphonse Jean, reacted to the news of the assassination of three police officers by members of the Gran Grif gang in Liancourt on July 22. The victims were inside an armored vehicle of the Haitian National Police (PNH), which was patrolling certain areas of the commune. A video showing the corpses of the victims, desecrated by the criminals, circulated widely on social media.
In a statement published on Wednesday, July 23, the Transitional Presidential Council strongly condemned “the barbaric and inhumane act committed in the Artibonite department.” “Jean Louis Daniel, Dareus Daniel, and Fegensly Mertus are the names of the officers who fell in the line of duty, according to a police source. The Transitional Presidential Council has already instructed the head of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, to mobilize all necessary government resources to establish the facts and honor the memory of these National Police officers, victims of yet another tragedy,” the statement signed by Fritz Alphonse Jean reads.
