As the debates of the 80th United Nations General Assembly open in New York this Tuesday, September 23, the security situation in Haiti was the subject of a high-level meeting. Convened by Kenya, alongside Haiti and the United States, the meeting served as an opportunity to assess the experience of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMAS) in Haiti and to consider prospects for its transformation into a more robust force. The meeting was chaired by Kenyan President William Ruto, CPT President Laurent Saint-Cyr, and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.

In his address, CPT President Laurent Saint-Cyr expressed solidarity with the victims of gang violence, the lives shattered by terror, and the humanitarian crisis ravaging the country. He expressed gratitude to President Ruto, President Trump, the countries that provided financial contributions, and the MSS personnel. He also paid tribute to the Haitian police and soldiers and to the Kenyan officers who fell on the battlefield.
