The businessman Dimitri Vorbe was apprehended at his home in the United States by agents of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a branch of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. According to a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, the businessman, who has been living in the United States for about five years, was arrested by ICE for his involvement in violent gang activities that fueled chaos and instability in Haiti.

“Vorbe was taken into custody in Miami following a joint investigation conducted by several U.S. government agencies. He is currently detained by ICE pending removal proceedings. The era of impunity is over in Haiti,” the statement reads.
