The Haitian writer Yanick Lahens has just won, on October 30, 2025, the Grand Prix du Roman of the Académie Française for her latest work Passagères de nuit, published by Sabine Wespieser. The author granted an exclusive interview to Le Nouvelliste’s editor-in-chief, Frantz Duval, just minutes after the announcement of the award. During the exchange, the 2014 winner of the Prix Femina said she was delighted that her award might inspire young people. She also offered advice to those who wish to become writers: read and work.

“You have to read a lot in order to learn and know more. You have to ask yourself many questions. It takes inner work. Above all, you must not fall into today’s general trend, which is to appear on social media. You must start by working. It’s not social media that will make you a good writer or a good musician,” she urged.
