Appearing on Magik 9’s morning program on Friday, December 12, 2025, the Director General of the ONI, Reynold Guerrier, detailed the main problems the ongoing reform aims to address. “One of the first issues this reform will resolve concerns the late transfer of registers,” Mr. Guerrier said with satisfaction. According to him, centralizing the system will allow data to be recorded in record time and will help put an end to the recurring problem of civil status records not being registered.

In addition to this progress, the Director General of the ONI emphasized that the NINU will also significantly reduce spelling errors in names. “It will be possible to verify the spelling of names at the time of registration. The beneficiary will be able to check the document once it is ready and, if the error comes from the operator, corrections can be made,” he specified.
