The case of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians continues to evolve between U.S. courts and United States Congress. Speaking on Radio Magik 9 on March 31, 2026, Eddy Laguerre explained that several political, judicial, and civil society efforts are underway to try to maintain this program, which benefits more than 300,000 Haitian nationals in the United States.

According to the lawyer, the matter is now being played out on two levels: before the U.S. judiciary and within Congress. On the judicial side, the Supreme Court of the United States will have to examine the issue in the coming weeks. “At the moment, the Supreme Court has refused to treat the government’s request as an emergency aimed at ending TPS. The Court prefers to review the case during an oral hearing,” Laguerre explained.
