More than 80 deaths and nearly one hundred injuries had been recorded as of Monday, May 11, during the armed violence that has shaken northern Cité Soleil since last weekend. This toll was provided by human rights official Fritznel Pierre, who appeared on Panel Magik on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

In addition to those killed and wounded, Mr. Pierre stated, citing partial figures from the International Organization for Migration, that more than 5,354 people had been forced to flee their homes because of the intensity of the clashes. Fritznel Pierre estimated that northern Cité Soleil has now become “a new lost territory,” emphasizing that no normal activity is currently possible there.
