As the 32nd edition of Livres en folie approaches, Max Chauvet, director of Le Nouvelliste and organizer of the event, highlighted a major focus this year: the central place given to children’s literature. Speaking on Radio Magik 9 on May 27, 2026, Mr. Chauvet revealed that one quarter of the books offered during the fair are specifically aimed at young readers.
“Nearly 25% of the available titles are intended for youth,” Max Chauvet stated, representing around 300 books out of the 1,194 titles selected for this edition. It is a deliberate choice driven by a strong conviction: “the earlier children read, the earlier they will develop a taste for it.” Indeed, introducing children to books from an early age benefits society as a whole. In a national context marked by insecurity and economic hardship, investing in younger generations appears to be a cultural and educational urgency.
