“On the occasion of the Latin America and Caribbean Weeks in France, organized around the theme ‘Another Path: The Relationship Between Latin America, the Caribbean, and France, or the Pursuit of Balance and Respect Among Nations,’ the prestigious distinction of the French Senate was awarded this year to Haitian football star Melchie Daëlle Dumornay,” according to a statement from the Haitian Embassy in France.

“Upon the recommendation of Haiti’s Ambassador to France, Louino Volcy, the young Haitian athlete received the Medal of Honor as well as an official certificate from the President of the Senate, Gérard Larcher. The ceremony took place during an official luncheon held at the Palais du Luxembourg, in the presence of ambassadors from other Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as numerous French dignitaries,” the statement continued.
