For Denilson Mentor, a photographer at Le Nouvelliste, covering the 2026 World Cup is no ordinary assignment. It is the first time he has had the opportunity to follow the Haitian national football team in its entirety: training sessions, press conferences, and the atmosphere in the stadiums. “It is truly an experience that every sports photographer would want to have,” he told the morning program Panel Magik on Radio Magik9 on June 23, 2026. An experience he is living under the colors of Le Nouvelliste and which, he says, is incomparable.
Accredited for the competition organized across three host countries—Mexico, Canada, and the United States—Mentor does not limit himself to covering Haiti’s matches. He follows the entire tournament, even though, as a Haitian, he does everything possible to accompany the national team on its travels. His work position nevertheless remains fixed: at the edge of the field, pitchside, where opportunities to move around are limited. “They really do not give you many possibilities,” he acknowledges. FIFA assigns each photojournalist one match per day. In addition to Haiti’s matches, he has already covered France–Senegal and Ecuador–Cameroon. Today, it is England–Ghana; tomorrow, Haiti–Morocco; the day after tomorrow, Germany–Ecuador.
