Dr. Jean William Pape of the GHESKIO Centers, who was selected last May, received the “President’s Award” during the 26th International Conference of the International AIDS Society, being held in Rio de Janeiro from July 26 to 31, 2026.

“I am grateful for GHESKIO and for Haiti,” Dr. Pape told Le Nouvelliste on Thursday. Last May, it was announced that “the IAS President’s Award seeks to recognize the achievements of an individual who has demonstrated an exemplary record of leadership and excellence as a pioneer or leading advocate in the HIV response. The award highlights the contribution of an individual whose work has helped advance knowledge, skills, innovative solutions, or evidence-based policies and programs in order to strengthen the global response to HIV.”
