Nearly three weeks after the official launch of voter registration operations at Registration and Voting Centers (CIVs), the Northeast Department has recorded 7,575 registered citizens. These figures, current as of today, reflect progress in the electoral process while also highlighting participation that remains modest in several municipalities, particularly in Ouanaminthe, which is nevertheless considered the department’s largest urban center.
The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) launched voter registration operations on July 20, 2026, in nine departments of the country, including the Northeast, ahead of the general elections and constitutional referendum provided for in the electoral calendar. The institution presented this stage as an essential prerequisite for exercising the right to vote and invited citizens with a valid National Identification Card (CIN) to register at the CIVs.
