From August 13 to 15, 2026, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé traveled throughout the greater South as part of an official tour focused on education, health, the environment and preparations for the upcoming general elections. From Aquin to Petit-Goâve, passing through Camp-Perrin and Les Cayes, the head of government took part in a series of inaugurations and meetings with local populations and authorities, including religious leaders.
The tour began in Aquin, where the Prime Minister inaugurated the École Baptiste de Melinette, which was destroyed by the August 14, 2021 earthquake and rebuilt with support from Compassion International. The school is expected to welcome students when classes resume on September 7. The head of government also visited the École Nationale de Marre-à-Coiffe, in the 5th communal section, in the presence of several members of the ministerial cabinet.
