The Federal Aviation Administration (commonly known in English as the FAA), the U.S. civil aviation authority, has extended for an additional six months the restrictions imposed on U.S. flights to Port-au-Prince, through March 2, 2027. The FAA cited “safety risks related to the country’s continued instability” in this new FAA notice, which took effect on September 1, 2026.

The FAA prohibited U.S. airlines, commercial operators, as well as most U.S.-registered civil aircraft, from flying below 10,000 feet in certain designated areas of Haiti, particularly in the corridor covering areas around Port-au-Prince, where armed gangs are active.
