The World Bank has published Haiti: Growth Trajectories Amid Heightened Risks (June 2026), a document that “situates Haiti’s medium-term growth prospects at a time of rising risks. It updates recent economic developments through mid-2026, examines Haiti’s economic potential and constraints, and identifies pathways toward recovery.”
In its “Executive Summary,” the report stresses from the outset that “Haiti faces a difficult path toward economic recovery, with stronger short-term prospects in its northern and southern economic corridors. Gang violence displaced a record 1.47 million people by May 2026, approximately 12 percent of the population, and armed groups control much of the capital and its surrounding areas. The economy contracted for a seventh consecutive year in fiscal year 2025, deepening poverty.
