For several days now, incessant rains have been pouring over the Grand’Anse department, causing flooding in several localities and paralyzing roadways. With failing infrastructure, drainage issues, and material damage, the situation is becoming particularly concerning for residents, some of whom are forced to leave their homes.
In Jérémie, the heavy rainfall once again highlights the weaknesses of urban infrastructures. The lack of developed roads and drainage issues are among the main difficulties the city faces during heavy rain episodes. The waters have even surpassed the level of the new bridge, built after the destruction of the old structure, illustrating the extent of the rising waters.
