1,300 Salvadoran troops already deployed in Haiti

"With the 690 troops that arrived today, there is now a contingent of 1,300 Salvadoran soldiers in Haiti. This deployment is done in communication with the Haitian government. It is a friendly country that is helping. This is not an invasion of the country," a government source told Nouvelliste on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Equipment for these troops has been dispatched by three planes in recent days, this source continued, asserting that further resources are expected to strengthen the capabilities of the forces engaged against the gangs. "Operations are currently being planned. But there are some joint visits," our source replied when asked about the relations between the Salvadorans, the FRG, and the Haitian security forces. The deployment of personnel and means has accelerated since the disappearance of four Salvadorans from the FRG.
