Haitian cocoa is sought after by chocolate makers worldwide. Despite a decrease in the volume of Haitian cocoa exports, it remains highly regarded and in demand, as reported to Le Nouvelliste. "PISA was the first company to export certified cocoa to the USA in 2015. FECANNO, on the other hand, shines in France through its partnership with Etiquable. PISA, with distributors in the USA and Europe, introduced Haitian cocoa to the 'Bean to Bar' movement and enabled several chocolate roasters to win numerous awards in international competitions: Palette de Bine and Hummingbird in Canada, and recently Bixby Chocolat for the Good Food Awards. PISA's cocoa is available in Asia and even in Australia and New Zealand," revealed Aline Elitcher, Pisa/Nord's representative to Le Nouvelliste.

"PISA, a production subsidiary of the REBO Group," explained Aline Elitcher, "started its operations in the cocoa sector in 2014 in the North. It is the first Haitian private company to establish a centralized fermentation center, aiming to reduce risks for small producers by directly purchasing green cocoa at a competitive price and achieve superior quality through standard post-harvest processing. PISA, according to Aline Elitcher, is also certified organic and fair trade in partnership with APROCANO, the Northern Cocoa Producers Association, ensuring traceability and transparency throughout the value chain. The fermentation process and double certification allow PISA to consistently obtain a better price in the international market. Despite the higher and riskier costs associated with this model, such as transporting fresh cocoa on the day of harvest, post-harvest processing time (about two weeks), infrastructure, certification costs, etc., PISA manages to maintain a competitive price, pays a biological premium after harvest, and our fair sales feed a development fund managed by APROCANO."
